July/August 2013
Dear Friends of Grace,
July at Grace Baptist Church was hot in more ways than one! We had a lot going on; which included a Senior Luncheon where we took our seniors out for lunch at a local restaurant they like.
July 7th we had what we called ‘Powerhouse Preaching’ for a special July 4th meeting. Afterward, we had a time of fellowship out back. Seven men who attend our evening college were all given 10-15 minutes to unfold their thought related to July 4th. Each one did a spectacular job! It was very encouraging.
The next week, our teens went on a mission trip to Georgia where they assisted a new church plant in giving out John/Romans New Testaments. We had the privilege of making about 2,500 of the J/R NT in our Bible Workshop before they left. In total they gave out around 5,400 J/R NT. It was a great blessing to all. Our teens also started a new Rest Home ministry that meets Thursday night once a month. Again, they were all excited!
Pastor Appreciation Day was special in that we had Evangelist Jimmie Clark and his girls’ home with us. Good meeting, good day, good food after the service and good spirit. This meeting prepared us for our Camp Meeting Revival with Dr. Ronnie Simpson. “WOW” kind of describes our meeting Monday through Thursday. Tremendous Preaching with the Power of God real in our midst. Amen! Thursday night was extra special with just about everyone hugging my neck and giving me words of encouragement…which I needed, especially since after the following Sunday night service we had to invoke church discipline on two men who refused to reconcile for sowing discord, which also resulted in us losing several of the same families. The devil was able to shoot some of his fiery darts over the wall and there was some destruction. However, the fires have been put out and we are now refocused, rebuilding, recommitted, and (as we have been praying) revived. Interesting is how that after only two weeks of directed special prayer in which we are meeting Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6 am, Saturday evening at 7:30 pm, each Wednesday and Sunday night, that this attack came. We are trusting God and covet your prayers. We are encouraged believing God IS answering our prayer for Revival! By the way, we have a two week Revival scheduled after our Homecoming on September 29th – Please pray for this meeting.
Bible professor Bob Straughn was also with us, who gave sound Bible Preaching/Teaching regarding the Muslim faith.
We ordained another Deacon on August 18th, Brother John Kemp, who is a dear brother who loves the Lord. He and his wife, Mrs. Aurora, along with their three children, have been with us a good while and proven themselves in the ministry. They are a real blessing to our church.
Saturday, August 24th, we had another Operation Saturation in which we gave out many J/R NT’s, along with tracts and invitations to church. We have currently finished another project in which we made up 2,000 J/R NT’s for a sister church in Tennessee.
God is still on the throne, still working, and still blessing. This month we have seen close to a dozen people ask the Lord to save them for which we are praying.
Please continue to pray for us at GBC as we continue to pray for you. We believe time is short and Jesus is coming soon – Hallelujah! What an exciting day to live in for our Lord! We love you and pray the Lord’s blessings be upon you.
