November/December 2013
Dear Friends of Grace,
I am a little late in getting our bi-monthly newsletter out, for which I apologize. Seems I never could find that ‘round-tuit’. January is here as bold as ever and the new year of 2014 has already begun. Time and Tide wait for no man, so we have jumped in with both feet.
The month of November found us baptizing one man. A dear father named Larry, who is setting the example for his wife and family. Larry walked the aisle for salvation during our Ron Comfort Revival meeting and has never looked back. As a matter of fact, he is currently at the Nashville church and being faithful in his attendance there.
Of course we had our annual Thanksgiving Service one Tuesday night. We switched our Wednesday night service to Tuesday for those who travel out of town for the holiday. It is one of our favorite services where all the families participate in sharing their testimony of how God has blessed them and what all they are thankful for. Everyone brings their dinner for that night and we put it out like Homecoming. There was a very special spirit of thanksgiving and humility that touched my heart.
December was a very busy month as always. Our adult Christmas party was the 14th and one of our men, Brother John Bissette, spoke. The message, food, and special entertainment were really a blessing. God has and is good to GBC!
Our Children’s Program went well with Alyssa (my daughter) working with the children. They all did their best for the Lord and they all made us smile and thank the Lord for them.
December 31st found us in a Watch Night Service that ends around midnight with the church praying in the New Year with their family. This year we had about 13 men who shared a Truth from God’s Word. These men were all from our church and did a tremendous job. Although they had only 15 minutes each, every one of them gave us a good Bible challenge. We broke for refreshments about 9:00 and then returned about 10:00.
2013 WAS a good year in spite of many battles. God showed Himself time and time again. He always makes the difference. We are asking Him to be even more real to us in 2014. Would you please pray with us about a couple of things? First, we had a heating/AC unit go out and one repair man quoted us a price of $20,000. After shopping around, we have it down to $11,000. We are trusting the Lord to help us with the money needed. We have about half of it right now, Praise God! Second, we are praying about starting a school. Louisburg has no Christian school and we believe the Lord would have us start one in reaching our community for Christ. Still in the battle, GBC has little money, not to mention the economy doesn’t seem like the best time to start a school; however Faith I believe is the key. Our God is not limited and we want to give Him a platform to show Himself as The God. Lastly, would you please pray for Brother Clyde Gupton and Brother Shane Brantley. Both were diagnosed with bone marrow cancer. Seems Brother Clyde now may not have it, but both men need help.
May the Lord bless you and keep you. We love you and are thankful for you.
Sincerely,
Pastor Wes Bailey
